United States universities continue to dominate in the 2017 Academic Ranking of World Universities or ARWU released last week by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, with Harvard University remaining top for the 15th year running, and Stanford staying second.

The key change in the top 10 is that the United Kingdom’s Cambridge University has overtaken the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California, Berkeley to make it into the top three.

The US takes eight of the top 10 and 16 of the top 20, with Washington University in St Louis in the top 20 for the first time at 20th, up from 23rd.

The UK has two in the top 10 – with the University of Oxford again seventh – and three in the top 20, with University College London moving up one place to 16th. goo.gl/6Z6WBBhttp://goo.gl/6Z6WBB
